Philosophy

"I believe self-compassion can be learned and practiced."

I know no one seeks out mental health support without some measure of pain and fear. I work with people struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, neurodivergence, and more. My specialties include treating clients who have experienced complex trauma, particularly from attachment wounds with early caregivers. I am passionate about walking alongside people in my LGBTQ community. I have over 8 years of experience successfully working with adults, teens, and children ages 6 and up. I am trained in EMDR and have received advanced training in EMDR for children and EMDR with sandtray, as well as extensive training in trauma-informed care. My philosophy: I believe in the inherent capacity of each client to heal what pains them. I believe therapeutic relationships are part of that healing, but I'm here not as an expert, just a humble guide. I believe that with some reorientation, the warring parts of ourselves can learn to thrive together. I believe in innate wisdom. I believe self-compassion can be learned and practiced, and it can effect enormous shifts. I believe tuning into our bodies offers us invaluable information. I believe in human rights, trans rights, and kids' rights. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in private practice for 5 years. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a server, a newspaper reporter, and social services program manager. My partner and I have two dogs and two cats. Or, those four animals have two human servants.
